Exigimos a
laboral.

Workers of Nestlé Maipú Chile go on
Strike
Friday 9 October 2015
Today 333 workers of the trade union Sindicato No 4 of
Nestlé Maipú commenced an indefinite strike, due to the inadequacy of the latest offer of the Swiss
multinational.
Our comrades have denounced the subsequent actions of the multinational,
“which immediately began to recruit contractors to replace the striking workers”, thereby violating
the commitments of Chile with the International Labour Organisation.
The following are the
key points of contention, which our comrades of Sindicato No 4 Nestlé Maipú consider the
multinational can satisfy without prejudicing the profitability of their business:
That the
date of negotiated adjustments to the terms of employment commence from the 1st of October 2015
instead of the 1st of January 2016.
That the benefits to be received upon the end of the
conflict not be distributed in three separate quotas.
That the increase in the renegotiated
terms of employment be in equal amounts over three years.
Sinaltrainal sends a fraternal
message of solidarity and support to our comrades who have been compelled to go on strike to obtain
a fair living wage and working conditions. We demand that the multinational Nestlé negotiate in good
faith to reach an immediate solution to the labour/ management dispute and to respect the right of
the workers to go on strike in defence of their legitimate claims, rather than violating the
national laws of Chile and Chile´s commitments with the ILO by hiring strikebreakers in an attempt
to destroy the union.
We request international solidarity from the trade union and other
social movements for our comrades of Nestlé Maipú in Chile.
